Rob Matlow, the founder of our agency, ventured into the world of digital content management. With a wealth of experience from the enterprise market, Rob recognized the immense potential of websites for small businesses, an idea that was relatively new at the time. It was this vision that propelled him to invest his time and focus in an industry and a platform that wasn't readily available to the small business market yet.
The journey began with slow and steady growth. Within the first year, we made our first significant step by hiring our first employee, a dedicated sales representative. In the subsequent two years, our team expanded to include four members. What truly sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to our team. Throughout our history, we have never had to lay off a single employee due to financial constraints. This speaks volumes about our dedication to our team members and the value we place on our relationships.
Our team members tend to stay with us for the long haul, defying the industry norm. While the average employee retention in Canada is typically under four years, many of our team members have been with us for over a decade, and one remarkable individual is approaching an impressive two-decade milestone.
The year 2020 brought about the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was during this time that we realized the critical importance of the internet for businesses. We shifted our focus to helping businesses navigate this crisis by assisting them in cataloging e-commerce solutions. This allowed them to pivot towards curbside pickup and adapt to the rapidly changing business landscape.
In 2021, we welcomed a talented Marketing Director to our team. This new addition brought a fresh perspective, a passion for marketing, and a creative spark to our agency. Inspired by this, we embarked on a journey to establish a dedicated Digital Marketing Team within our company. Over the past two years, our agency has experienced continuous growth and innovation.
An exciting opportunity arose in July 2023. Until that point, we had been referring all of our digital marketing business to TrafficSoda. However, it became abundantly clear that merging our efforts was a "no-brainer." Approximately 25% of our customers were mutual clients, and we had cultivated a strong and mutually beneficial relationship with their leadership team.
In September 2023, REM Web Solutions Inc. successfully acquired TrafficSoda, a strategic move that brought over their talented staff and some exceptional high-impact clients. This acquisition marked a significant milestone in our journey and expanded our capabilities in the digital marketing landscape.
